Los Angeles, CA — February 25, 2025 — SurrealArts Group formally announces its creative partnership, consulting, and supervisory collective across film, television, animation, visual effects, and cinematic content for games.
With senior creatives based across North America and Europe, SurrealArts Group brings together an integrated network of specialty partners: San Francisco–based Checkpoint VFX, serving as the group’s high-end CG partner; Ionart Studios in Budapest, a versatile animation, FX, and cinematics team; and FABLEfx, the group’s premiere creature and character-focused studio headquartered in Stockholm with a London satellite supporting access to UK tax incentives.
This structure reflects the first phase of a broader global collective designed to scale thoughtfully over time. Together, SurrealArts Group and its partners look to provide early creative leadership and coordinated international execution grounded in real-world production experience, aligning supervision, pipeline strategy, and artistic intent from development through final delivery.
Led by an award-winning team of seasoned production professionals, SurrealArts Group was formed in direct response to years of client feedback around the need for trusted, creative-driven leadership that can engage meaningfully at the earliest stages of development while navigating the realities of decentralized, international workflows. The group connects productions with leading and emerging boutique studios worldwide, offering a highly collaborative approach grounded in real-world production experience.
Founded by Emmy Award–winning VFX veteran Mark A.J. Nazal, SurrealArts Group represents a formal expansion of a working model that has evolved organically through hands-on supervision, creative consulting, and on-set collaboration across a wide range of productions.

The SurrealArts Group leadership team includes (from left) Mark A.J. Through Kavalecz, the group leverages the core capabilities of Checkpoint VFX as its North America–based production partner, providing scalable, cloud-based infrastructure to support modern, distributed production workflows, with additional supervisors and producers joining the roster as the group’s strategic and creative initiatives continue to expand.
Creative collaboration remains central to the group’s approach. With leadership experienced in engaging projects at the earliest stages of development, SurrealArts Group intends to partner with productions early to help shape visual language, creative direction, and execution strategy well before production ramps up. Rather than operating as a traditional vendor, SurrealArts Group functions as a collaborative partner, bridging creative intent, production realities, and global execution. In addition to its core leadership, the group is assembling an extended roster of supervisors and producers to support its consulting and supervisory work across a broad range of productions.
