Creative Divergence Quietly Introduced a Potential Game-Changing Screenwriting Tool at San Diego Comic-Con
Creative Divergence introduced ScreenWrite, a feature-rich, accessible and budget-friendly screenwriting tool, at a packed Comic-Con panel featuring X-Men and Alita: Battle Angel creative director Kino Scialabba, filmmaker and Sony Pictures Animation VFX supervisor Chris Browne, with international screenwriter Nicole Caliro
SAN DIEGO, California, August 14, 2026 — Creative Divergence, affiliated with the global creative collective, SurrealArts Group, used San Diego Comic-Con International to debut ScreenWrite, the first in its intended line of tools built for independent productions, live to an enthusiastic audience at one of the world's largest storytelling marketplaces. Between the trailer drops, cosplay spectacle, and blockbuster panels that dominated the convention's headlines, ScreenWrite made its own quiet case for the future of independent screenwriting.
Creative Divergence was built on a simple premise: professional-grade tools should be accessible to creatives at every level. Founders Mark Jabourian and Mark A.J. Nazal steer the effort together: Jabourian as creative technologist and product lead, and Nazal, an Emmy Award-winning, multidisciplinary creative with a decade-plus across visual effects, independent filmmaking, and publishing, as executive producer and business development lead. ScreenWrite is the startup's first step toward that goal, a screenwriting application that pairs industry-standard formatting with real-time collaboration and production-ready tools, all for a low one-time cost.

"Accessibility isn't just about price. It's about giving people access to workflows that let their creativity flow," said Jabourian, Creative Divergence's product lead. "We want writers, no matter where they're starting from, to have the same tools the pros use."
Nazal said the goal is to build tools that hold up as the industry evolves. "We're not just building for where the market is today," Nazal said. "We're building for where it's headed, and making sure independent creators aren't left behind as it gets there."
Built for how creatives actually work
ScreenWrite was designed to remove the friction between writing a script and preparing it for production. Highlights include:
Real-time, multi-user collaboration: writers' rooms can co-write in the same script simultaneously that doesn’t require a cloud service (with host user online)
Digital script lining that generates a shot list automatically: no retyping or manual breakdowns
Industry-standard screenplay formatting with zero setup
Collaborators join free, with no install required
A one-time $19.99 price: no subscription required to get started
Independent comparisons show ScreenWrite's three-year cost of ownership at roughly $20, against $80 to $405 for comparable tools such as Fade In, Arc Studio, Final Draft, WriterDuet, and Celtx. ScreenWrite pairs that pricing with production-ready features like breakdown tagging, shot lists with CSV export, and an actor sides generator, all included.
Easy to miss, hard to ignore
Creative Divergence chose Comic-Con for ScreenWrite's public debut deliberately, putting the product directly in front of the working writers, filmmakers, and comic creators who make up the convention's creative community. Jabourian demoed the software live on the show floor throughout the weekend, while Nazal joined a number of industry panels across the convention to talk through the future of independent creative work in an ever-evolving industry.
The founders said the response has been extremely encouraging, with attendees lining up at the SurrealArts booth to try ScreenWrite hands-on for a limited time and walk away with renewed excitement to create.
What's next
Creative Divergence is treating the Comic-Con launch as the opening move in a broader rollout. The team is continuing to gather feedback from early users, stress-testing ScreenWrite's collaborative features under real-world conditions, and building out a support community of independent, emerging, and established creatives from across the industry landscape.
